The Diamond Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 116659SABR was presented at Baselworld 2018 and immediately attracted much attention. The bezel of this extremely rare Submariner Date is adorned with 27 dark blue baguette sapphires, 11 baguette-cut diamonds at the hour markers, and a triangle-cut diamond at 12 o'clock.
Though it certainly extends beyond the classic tool watch, this diamond-adorned timepiece retains its functionality. The first 9 sapphires are a lighter blue, representing a classic diving bezel graduated for decompression time. The case and crown guard are enriched with 92 brilliant-cut diamonds.
This Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 116659SABR features approximately 3.90 carats of sapphires and a total of 1.72 carats of diamonds, all carefully selected and set by the Rolex gemology laboratory.
